Date(s) : March 21 (Friday / National holiday) , 2014

Time : 5:00 - 6:30 pm

After graduating from college in Japan, Masahiko Yanagi (b. Tokyo) moved to New York in 1981 where he studied at the New School for Social Research, receiving an MFA in Art and Society. While a student, he wrote articles for Japanese and European art and design magazines and planned and coordinated exhibitions. He would go on to specialize in avant-garde publications, collector and museum studies and the New York Dada. From the mid-1980s, he worked as a member of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s staff and was deeply involved in many of their projects, including The Umbrellas. He has written many books about the artistic duo. For this talk event, Yanagi will talk about his 30-year long relationship with the artists, details about their many projects and profiles of artists he himself has known. His talk will be accompanied by slides.
