Near and Far – A Live Performance by aus
Date(s) : Monday, November 4 (national holiday), 2024
Time : 11:30 – 12:00 / 14:00 – 14:30

Yasuhiko Fukuzono, “aus,” has created a diverse range of electronic music-based works characterized by impressive, nostalgia-evoking sounds and a dynamic beat. For this event, aus teams up with violinist Kumi Takahara in a live performance at Hara Museum ARC.
The show will feature a collage of various sounds centered around the sound of water collected in the field in Shibukawa, Gunma prefecture, mixed with the tonal colors of Takahara’s violin to create an ambient space within the museum’s highland setting. Visitors are free to come and go as they please any time during the performance.

aus
Based in Tokyo, aus began making music for experimental video works and made his debut on an indie label in NY while still in his teens. He has participated in such events as the Sonar, Summer Sonic and Mori Michi Ichiba festivals and has performed in 35 cities around the world, but mainly in Europe.
His music is born from the repeated rediscovery and reconstruction of ambient sounds around him. He says, “by altering nature, new nature is created.” Drawing inspiration from sounds spilling out from TVs and radios, images from movies, language, long-forgotten memories and inner emotions, he illustrates the minutiae of moments that make up the world.
Last year, after a long hiatus from music-making, he released Everis, his first full album in 15 years. His recent works include the installation Melodia Memoriae (2023) for the Koishikawa Botanical Garden and LAYLAND (2024) with Ryosuke Nagaoka (Petrols). His new album FLUCTOR is scheduled to be released this November. He is the owner of the record label FLAU.
