Meet the Artist: Yasumasa Morimura – A Personal Theory: What Kind of Painter Was Rembrandt?
Date(s) : Sunday, August 25, 2024
Time : 16:15-17:45 (Doors open at 16:00)
We are happy to announce a lecture by Yasumasa Morimura, an artist who has been active at the forefront of the international art scene for many years. Rembrandt, the theme of his lecture, is the subject of six of Morimura’s works featured in the current exhibition, A Shout Out for Art from the Center of Japan, including Self-Portrait with Book 1661. Another work by Morimura, Rondo (Twins), is on permanent display. In addition to this rare opportunity to hear the artist talk about his work, there will be a special screening of Rembrandt Chapter taken from egó sympósion, a full-length film shot by the artist within the unique environment of Hara Museum ARC. Given the artist’s sentiment that “Rembrandt is highly suitable for Hara Museum ARC,” we can look forward to a talk informed by a venue unlike any other.
