Artist Talk: An Autumn Evening with Tabaimo: From the Solo Exhibition Yumechigae to Now

It’s been 13 years since Tabaimo’s solo exhibition Yumechigae at Hara Museum ARC. The cutting-edge artist returns to Hara Museum ARC to give a special evening talk about her past and present activities.
Tabaimo
Born in 1975, Tabaimo established her place in the art world with the animated installation Japanese Kitchen that she presented for her graduation exhibition at Kyoto University of Art and Design in 1999 and by her participation in the first Yokohama Triennale in 2001. She has remained active on the international scene with such major solo exhibitions as YOROYORON: Tabaimo (2006, Hara Museum of Contemporary Art). Tabaimo (2006, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain), Tabaimo: DANMEN (2009, Yokohama Museum of Art / 2010, National Museum of Art, Osaka), TABAIMO teleco-soup (2011, Japan Pavilion, 54th Venice Biennale) and TABAIMO: MEKURUMEKU (2014, MCA Australia). Her diverse activities continue this year with a solo exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Art in California and a video theater piece with Maki Morishita at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. From November, she opens a self-curated solo exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum. Tabaimo lives and works in Nagano prefecture.
