In association with the Japanese forest conservation organization more trees, Yasuhiro Suzuki has taken wood left over from the thinning of forests and have come up with the Apple Kendama. They say Newton discovered gravity when he saw an apple falling. With Suzuki’s kendama, the apple once again allows you to feel the very same force of attraction. Having played with a kendama from his student days, Suzuki realized changing the ball into an apple would be a great way for people to rediscover this often overlooked force of nature. Another bonus: the more you play with it, the more the scratches make the ball look like a real apple. Made of a cherry wood body, birch ball and cypress stand. [Photo: Takumi Ota]
